literally so fascinating how just DNA replicates itself but so complex but i love the complexity and hate it in the same time
why can’t people love me for knowing how DNA is replicated
i felt so confident about this final and now i’m literally losing my mind because he didnt’ really tell us what we needed to study he just gave us an overview and a semester of biology is a LOT to just have readily available
i know like 80% of it i really love biology but damn please let the gods be on my side i want 100% on this final

okay my final is in like .. an hour but you can tell me if i’m understanding this right
i kNOW the stages i just have a hard time keeping up with homologous chromosomes and sister chromatids for whatever reason so
mitosis:
cell with 46 chromosomes (23 pairs) becomes duplicated into a cell with 92 chromosomes (46) pairs and after mitosis, you’ll have two cells with 46 chromosomes each (23 pairs), right?
meiosis:
gametes with 23 cells (two) combine to a cell with 46 chromosomes (23 pairs), becomes duplicated into a cell with 92 chromosomes, split into two cells with 46 chromosomes and then those two are split into two more each with 23 chromosomes, yes?
and then sister chromatids are just chromosomes (or chromatids after DNA synthesis in the S phase) and homologous chromosomes are matching chromatids (one from mother/father) or pairs of matching genetic chromosomes (i.e. in meiosis 1 where homologous pairs are what line up on the plate after going through crossing over/whatever it is)
please say that’s at least mildly correct i havent slept
i don’t know why i have the h a r d e s t time understanding meiosis but i can tell you everything involving dna replication and protein receptors and hormones and whatever ELSE
